I have received my printed bag in the post. It looks really good. I got two printed so i can mock up my direct mailer and have another to show the design.

Sustainability - Packaging
I have all my design work completed i.e the nets and the actual surface design. I need to now think about materials the colour texture and the weight to hold the desired products. I have looked at paper stock from gfsmith. I have highlighted colour and weight which will be suitable for my mockups of my designs.
I have contact gfsmith to order specific samples for mockup.
Sustainability - Compostable Paper/Sack Solution
This is my final design for my bag for life, which will be in my direct mailer. I have sent the proofs away for print. This is the proof from the company who is printing my design.
Sustainability - Packaging
I have taken my original designs and tweak them a little bit. I have make the logo align with the type as it was originally too small and unlegable. I have made these amendments to my design.
I have also started to think about my 3rd piece of packaging. Rather than thinking about the product then the packaging, i had created the packaging design and then based the product around the uses of packaging. I have settle on a vegetable all-sorts. Its a box of a range of vegetables for different meals or seasons, and the vegetable would vary depending in this.
I have created the design to match the design of the other product which create a nice modern house style branding for the supermarket.

Sustainability - Packaging
I have come up with a solution to the packaging net design solution. I have now started to consider the design taking elements for my initial design ideas. Initial I have looked at the side design before the top. I have focused here on the layout of type either left or right aligned; I have also considered hierarchy and the overall tightness and connection between all the elements. As part of a food product it was imperative that I ensure I included products information on calories etc so I created my own for this element. I need to consider where this will go on my design.
I have started to start to think about the tops of my box design. The supermarket logo is currently in grey but this is to represent a die cut. I wanted to use this as a die cut to so you could see in to the box. The top of the box only includes this and guidelines. The reason for this is if the boxes are staked up this is not the first thing our will see, it will be the side. I have made the overall focus to be here as this the part that will be in plain few. The back element is quite simple has ingredient information bar code ad smaller product description. I have played around with different colour here too. I want it to represent the product in some way.
Here is the net of my product, and how the design would have to be placed for print.

Sustainability - Packaging
I have also started some initial ideas and concepts for the packaging design. Here are some of my initial ideas and thoughts.
Also i started to think about my ideas for a candle packaging. I started to think about the shaped and idea of creating holes out to fit the candle. i did some experimentation until i came across the concept i would take forward as my packaging solution.
Sustainability - Packaging
For my packaging i have decided to focus on repackaging candles, a bakery product but my final food is still up in the air. For my direct mailer i used the concept of folding paper to create it. This was my approach to sustainability trying to be creative and eliminating all the badness of inks etc. I wanted to carry this through to my packaging. Here is the photos i took to experiment with paper folding to try and create packaging solutions.
